I worked at Apple.
It was my favorite job outside of vocational ministry.
But I want to make this clear lest you think that I had anything more than a surface level exposure to life inside of One Infinite Loop. I worked at Apple for about a year, in 1999-2000.
I worked in the Company Store at Apple. It was a very entry-level position. My job title was Technical Sales Specialist. Apple had, at its headquarters, a Company Store. The Company Store sold Apple logo-ed merch as well as software for Macintosh computers. My job was to help provide technical assistance for anyone with questions that came into the store.

Working at Apple was formative for me. I had a front row seat to a company’s resurgence. I learned culture. I learned branding. I learned what a great corporate culture looked like. It was one year, but it made an impact. Had I not sensed the call of God into full-time vocational ministry, I might still be there.
I was interviewing for a position that would have set me up for a career at Apple, and I think I could’ve really enjoyed it. But instead, I took a chance to follow a call to ministry, and I have no regrets about pursuing that call. But working at Apple was a real joy that I will never forget.

If I left vocational ministry today, I would gladly work at Apple again, no question. But I don’t want to give the impression that I had a long and storied career at Apple. It was short-lived, but impactful and will always be remembered fondly. So I’m not, AT ALL, an Apple expert, but I had a front row seat for about a year, to the renaissance of a tech titan. So when I speak of my experience at Apple, take it with a grain of salt, since I wasn’t there long, but it did leave an impression and made me an Apple fanboy. So as an Apple fanboy, I’m so grateful that I got the experience.

On this platform, Apple will be oft-mentioned. Some of those mentioned will include first-hand experiences, and others will be based in Apple’s history, product launches, and corporate cultural moments. But I just want to say, from the outset, that while I worked for Apple for a short time, most of my posts about Apple are as a fan, not a former employee.
